Continuing their string quartet series key by key, the Classicus Quartet ventures into E minor. Beethoven’s middle quartet of the three dedicated to the Russian diplomat Razumovsky is a heroic effort full of the maestro’s inner conflicts. Marcell Dargay composed his new piece in the memory of composer Zoltán Jeney who passed away recently. Verdi’s only chamber work was written during a short and unexpected hiatus, while Fauré’s quartet is a peaceful and soft valediction to life.
